⏬LOCATION ▶Where to Visit
The French Riviera (or Cote d’Azur) continues to be one of the most glamorous and sought after destinations in the world, starting from the Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix in May through to the sunny and mild early Autumn.
St. Paul-de-Vence has long been a haven to many of the world’s greatest artists and creatives. The rear wall of Villa Seburga is shared with the Fondation Maeght museum, hidden behind trees. Stroll through the beautiful galleries in the pedestrian streets of the old town. Take in lunch at the world famous Colombe d’Or restaurant (who offer valet parking), a legendary establishment which has been host to celebrated artists who have left stunning works of art to adorn this unique setting.
Vence (10 minutes away) has a delightful pedestrian street market every morning except Monday. Across the bridge towards St. Jeannet you will find the Matisse Chapel (Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence).
Walk along the River Loup (5 minutes away). Its banks are a true oasis of coolness; its peaceful murmuring waters are very popular during the hottest summer periods.
Adventure out to the Millionaires' Quay in Antibes (about 30 minutes away), where the largest private yachts in the world are berthed.
Play tennis at the Tennis du Cayrons (10 minutes away).
There is both horse riding and golf at nearby Villeneuve-Loubet, and numerous golf courses within 30 minutes or so.
If you can bear to leave Villa Seburga for a longer trip, the coast from Cannes to Monaco offers numerous beaches, sailing and other water sports. Larvotto Beach in Monaco is a popular and clean place from which to dip into the Mediterranean, as well as offering underground parking. Consider taking the ‘English Walk’ - the Promenade des Anglais which starts about 15 minutes away, and runs for several kilometres alongside the Bay of Nice. At the end is the old town of Nice - with its flower market and perfume stalls.
You can hire a helicopter from Nice airport to take you to several restaurants further afield, or even to St. Tropez for the day.
There is so much to do, but you will enjoy returning home as you relax in the heated pool at Villa Seburga, gazing over the infinity edge towards the sea, and watching the sunset over the hills to the west.
